Ingenico Error Codes
BAD MAC
  • Cause - The security password is mismatched between the terminal and the acquirer.

  • Corrective action - Contact Technical Support.

BAD READ
  • Cause - The inserted card could not be read.

  • Corrective action - Check orientation of the card and try again.

BAD SWIPE
  • Cause - The swiped card could not be read.

  • Corrective action - Check orientation of the card and try again.

CALL AUTH CENTRE
  • Cause - The transaction has been referred.

  • Corrective action - Call the authorisation centre on the number provided on the screen or printed on the receipt.

CANNOT CALL HOST CHECK PHONE LINE
  • Cause - The terminal is unable to contact Rapyd due to a communications error after three dial attempts.

  • Corrective action

    • For mobile terminals, check the mobile network.

    • For Bluetooth terminals, check the telephone line or LAN.

    • If the problem persists, contact Technical Support.

CANCELLED
  • Cause - The terminal is displaying confirmation that you have cancelled the transaction.

  • Corrective action - Do nothing. This is for information only.

DECLINED
  • Cause - The card, card issuer or acquirer has declined to authorise the transaction.

  • Corrective action - Ask for another means of payment.

EXPIRED CARD
  • Cause - The card presented is expired.

  • Corrective action

    • Ask for another means of payment.

    • If the expiration date on the card seems valid, check the date and time on the terminal.

INVALID CARD
  • Cause - The card presented is of a type that is not supported, or is damaged and could not be read.

  • Corrective action - Ask for another means of payment.

INVALID TRANSACTION
  • Cause - The selected transaction type (for example, cashback) might not be active on your merchant account.

  • Corrective action - Contact Technical Support.

MEMORY xx% FULL DO Z BALANCE
  • Cause - The terminal’s memory is becoming full and needs to be cleared.

  • Corrective action - Do a Z Balance to clear the transaction log. See Z Balance Reports. If the problem persists after a successful Z Balance, contact Technical Support.

    This warning only appears when the memory is 90% full or more. You should perform the Z Balance at the end of every trading day.

NOT ACCEPTED
  • Cause - The card presented is not configured for the selected transaction type.

  • Corrective action - Ask for another means of payment.

OPERATION NOT ALLOWED
  • Cause - The selected operation has been disabled, is not allowed for the card presented, or the card is faulty.

  • Corrective action - Ask for another means of payment.

PROCESSING ERROR
  • Cause - The selected operation is not allowed for the card presented, or the card is faulty.

  • Corrective action - Ask for another means of payment.

PRESS ENTER TO RETRY
  • Cause - The first two dial attempts have failed.

  • Corrective action

    • Resolve the issue (for example, ensure that the telephone line is not in use) and press Enter to continue for the third and final dial attempt.

    • For mobile terminals, check the mobile network.

    • For Bluetooth terminals, check the telephone line or LAN.

    • If the problem persists, contact Technical Support.

PREVALID CARD
  • Cause - The card presented is not yet valid.

  • Corrective action

    • Ask for another means of payment.

    • If the expiration date on the card seems valid, check the date and time on the terminal.

SORRY FOR DELAY… RETRYING
  • Cause - The terminal is unable to contact the acquirer due to a communications error. The terminal makes three attempts to redial. If all three attempts fail, the transaction is referred.

  • Corrective action

    • For mobile terminals, check the mobile network.

    • For Bluetooth terminals, check the telephone line or LAN.

    • If the problem persists, contact Technical Support.
